The school was originally established as a boy’s day school on January 25, 1940 but it is now a co-educational school with day and boarding facilities. The school has some challenges to deal with. These include the lack of computers at the computer lab, water shortages. About: AB REVIEW SAYS Tema Senior High was opened on Friday, the 22nd of September 1969. The school immediately gained popularity for its good academic and sports results. With a population of over 1500 students, the pride of Tema can boast of creditable school facilities including a school library, science lab, computer lab, football pitch and a basketball court. Tema Senior High has a good reputation in the metropolis for their prowess in sports. They have won more accolades in sports than any other school in the metropolis. The school’s cadet corps is among the most revered in the country. The school’s alumni group is fairly active but can do more to motivate the current students and support the upgrade of the school’s facilities. About: The school started as a middle boarding bchool in 1958 with Mr�Quaniamu Dramani who hailed from Damongo as the first Head Teacher�From the boarding status, it was turned into a middle day school�Due to the increasing demand for secondary education in the country, the then middle school was converted into a secondary school in 1979�The first Headmaster, who opened the school was Mr�A�A Daramanu with sixty-four (64) male and ten(10) female students, making a total student population of seventy-four (74) to start with�Currently, the school has a population of 1,128 male and 803 female students, making a total of 1,931. The school runs five academic programmes, thus, Agricultural Science, Business, Home Economics, General Arts and General Science.
