About: AB REVIEW SAYS Established in 1960, Navrongo Senior High School is popular across the country for its achievements in academics.With a population of over one thousand three hundred students, the school is among the biggest in the Upper West region where it is located. The school is endowed with good facilities including dining hall, science labs, library among others but concerns were raised for the rehabilitation of school street lights, solutions to the drinking water problem and the renovation of the dining hall. The staff is commended for the high dedication to work. They concern themselves with maintaining the school’s academic prowess and the good disciplinary record. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah once wrote this about Navrongo School in the school’s notebook: This school has a great future. I shall watch its progress with great interest. There is no doubt the school has lived up to expectation. NAVASCO’s exploits in academics and extracurricular programs is enviable by all standards. The school has produced notable alumni in the country including politicians, businessmen and lawyers. What makes the school unique is the folio numbering system it adopts for the easy identification of students. About: The Methodist High School Saltpond was founded for the Methodist Church in November 1981 by the Rev. Ebenezer K. Baiden. He was also the first headmaster of the school. Rev. Baiden was then the Superintendent Minister of the Saltpond Methodist Church. The school was started in the historic and famous Hammond Hall of the Saltpond Methodist Church where the Convention People’s Party (CPP) was founded. It later moved to the premises of the Methodist Middle School at Mount Pleasant at Apeakwaa. It finally moved to an abandoned building belonging to the UTC adjacent to the Saltpond Post Office, where it is now located.
