About: Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School, originally known as Saltpond Girls, was established in 1960 by the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, President of the First republic of Ghana in appreciation of the role the people of Saltpond, especially the women, played in the political history of the country. Mr. Kojo Botsio, then Minister of Education, Mr. Kofi Baako, Member of Parliament for Saltpond, Mr. George Padmore, a West-Indian Pan-Africanist, Dr. Hastings Banda, President of the Republic of Malawi and Mr. S. E. Arthur, member of the School Board of Governors were charged to select the site for the School.
