About: AB REVIEW SAYS A school which has gained its popularity in the region primarily due to its linkage with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST Senior High has over the years posted creditable results in academics and especially in sports. The school has a poor showing on the internet and must up their game in projecting the profile to the general public. The school administration should work with the PTA and encourage the old students union to gave the school a face lift in terms of facilities to befit its image as a top school. STUDENTS SAY “…” Students appreciate the morning devotions. It keeps them fresh and in tune with the spirit to get them focus on their academics. There were complains that student participation in clubs and societies is dwindling. Some students called for more moral teachings and the increase in quizzes and other educational activities. Generally students believe the school has potential to do much better than it is at the moment. About: AB REVIEW SAYS Situated on the Wa-Hanule trank, about 2 km away from the main township at Jirapa, it is the only girls’ senior high school in the Upper West Region. Although a small population with inadequate facilities, it has consistently produced good academic results and shoulders with the top schools in the region. Saint Francis of Assissi girls was established in 1959 by Cardinal Porkuu Desy. It has got potential to be among the best girls schools in the country. The school has strict catholic training which has culminated into a good discipline record. Stakeholders of the school (old student association, PTA, etc) can help with the school’s infrastructural improvement will boost its standards as a top school. STUDENTS SAY “…” Teachers are generally committed to work. Students are trained to be disciplined in all areas hence the accolade as the one of the most disciplined schools in the region. However, clubs and societies are not as engaging. Students contribute that they should be encouraged and supported by the administration to take part in sports and other extra-curricular activities. Favorite food on campus: Tuo zaafi popularly called far-cho. St�Francis Girls’ Senior High School is the only girls school in the Upper West Region and it is situated in the Jirapa District� It was the second school which was opened in 1959 after Tamale Senior High School (Tamasco) in the whole of the northern sector� The school was opened by the Roman Catholics in 1959 led by the late Cardinal Porekuu Dery and Bishop Champagne and then staffed by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary sisters (FMM) with thirteen girls but now the school’s population stands at one thousand, one hundred and eighty four (1,184) girls • To attain and maintain a high level of self-discipline through the enforcement of school rules and regulations� • To achieve a high sense of team spirit through unity and co-operation�St�Francis Girls’ Senior High School exists to provide holistic education inspired by catholic values to nurture girls into women of dignity and productive citizens in an environment of discipline, unity and peace�

About: AB REVIEW SAYS The second largest school in the Northern Region only after Tamasco, Ghana senior high is by all standards a top school. With a population of 1800, the co-educational institution has shown impressive academic and sports achievements. A consistent strong prowess in sports from the school has won it the name Sports College. The school has basic facilities including dining hall (old and new), science lab, administration block, etc. The school also has a mosque since most of the students are Muslims. The school’s alumni are relatively strong but can do more to upgrade the school’s facilities to modern ones. STUDENTS SAY “…” Modernization of school’s facilities is imperative. Students call for a solution to the water problem the school faces and the renovation of the science resource centre. Teachers are generally committed to work. One student comments though that teachers should be more punctual to class. Students appreciate the impressive level of discipline and the great social environment on campus. This, the survey shows is as a result of the students’active participation in clubs and societies that play a vital role in school’s activities. Ghana Senior High School, Tamale was established by the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Government as one of the Ghana Education Trust Schools in 1960�In June 1970, a historic feat was chalked by the school when Mr�Lalaji, a Mathematics teacher and his Science students invented a rocket�On 22nd June, 1970 the rocket was launched in the school with the Minister of Education, Mr�William Offori Attah in attendance�Ghana Senior High School is located off the Tamale Teaching Hospital road�It is one of the best performing schools in the country�For the past two years, the school has been ranked first in academic ranking of schools in the Northern Region� This commitment is due to the high level of commitment and dedication to duty by the staff coupled with effective supervision� To provide formal education to qualified Basic School Leavers, admit B�E�C�E�leavers and ensure they acquire the requisite qualification for further training in tertiary institutions to be productive by promoting socio economic development�To appoint and maintain qualified, competent and devoted teaching staff and also admit B�E�C�E�leavers who attain aggregate six (6) to thirty (30) and ensure that the latter are imbibed in quality academic, moral and disciplined training with academic qualifications.

About: AB REVIEW SAYS Fiaseman Senior High School began as Royal Secretarial College in January, 1955. The name was changed later in 1977. With a population of approximately 1270, this coeducational school located in the western region has risen over the years to creditable standards. One thing that makes the schoool scale above a host of other equally good schools is its state of the art website design that provides current information and projects the school’s name outside its walls. The school has posted satisfactory results in academics and extracurricular activities. The PTA is a strong pillar of the school assisting it by providing facilities including a classroom block, school clinic and a number of computers. The school however faces some challenges amongst them accommodation for teachers, inadequate sport equipment and funding. Fiaseman Senior High school will move to higher heights if it is consistent with the inputs it is making in branding the school. STUDENTS SAY “…” Student survey points to the fact that the school maintains a high level of discipline. One student writes that there is a high demand for teachers and learning materials which signify that teachers are inadequate.
