GHANATA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
GHANATA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
About: AB REVIEW SAYS Ghanatta Senior High School recently celebrated their 70th anniversary in grand style. The school is the only second institution in the Dangbe West district. Ghanatta’s performance in academics and extracurricular activities is impressive. The school has been earmarked as a model school and this will improve and upgrade the school’s facilities. The school’s current facilities include a science and computer lab, visual arts block, dining hall and a library. The school also has generators which aids them when the lights are out. Ghanatta Senior High has a weak internet presence. The school can gain more prestige by creating an avenue for access to the school’s profile and creditable achievements. Survey shows that the old student association can do more to upgrade the schools facilities and motivate the students to aim for higher heights. Popular clubs in the school include the Red Cross, Gunsa, and Debating Club among others. Ghanatta Senior High has potential to climb higher in its ratings. YAA ASANTEWAA GIRLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
YAA ASANTEWAA GIRLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
About: AB REVIEW SAYS Named after the brave Asante warrior, Yaa Asantewaa, the school has lived up to expectation as a respectable all girls high school. Affectionately called YAGISS, the school has gained popularity in the Ashanti Region and beyond. Academic standards are high and it boasts of a high discipline level. However, it is expected that the school should have a website and use other networks to projects its name outside its walls. This could make it a top notch school with a 21st century touch. The school campus is immaculately neat and buildings are generally in good condition. The school has a flourishing partnership with their boy’s school, Prempeh College. STUDENTS SAY “…” Students commend teachers’ excellent attitude to work and embrace the good teacher-student relationship that exists. Clubs and societies are active and provide an exciting atmosphere on campus. Scripture Union on campus is very vibrant. One senior observes that lots of prayers are offered for final year students for good success in their final exam. School doesn’t really provide much emphasis on sports, one student writes. There were some complaints by students that there is too much restriction to their lifestyles on campus. Another complains that the assembly hall needs expansion. Despite good academic records, a general students survey shows that more input needs to be exerted on the visual arts program.. Yaa Asantewaa Girls is one of the few girls’ Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana and the most popular, with high academic excellence The school was established in Kumasi in 1960 as part of the rapid educational expansion project pioneered by Osagyefo DrKwame Nkrumah, the first Ghanaian President after the independence of the country It had an initial student population of 70Since then the school has grown to its present size of around 2,000 girls The school was named after the legendary Queen Mother of Ejisu in the Ashanti region of Ghana The vision of our school is academic excellence for each student and high standards in every activity undertaken to promote moral values, tolerance and self-discipline Our mission is to give holistic education to the girl child by developing the full potential of every student ready to play a full role and become well informed, responsible, assertive and confident in all aspect of society.
