The school was established in 1991. It was the “Brain Child” of the chiefs and people of Kwanyako. It had the backing and support of the government at that time. The school started in the Catholic Basic School classroom block nicknamed “the castle”. It started with twelve boys and eight girls. The first headmaster was Mr. J. K. Kanfra. In 1995/1996 academic year the school nearly collapsed, a period in the history of the school- termed “period of uncertainty”. However, around 1996, another history was written as the school stood on its feet, an era termed as “period of hope and restoration”. To produce quality students who are capable of finding their proper place in the society, making them self-reliant and ready to direct their own life-long learning. The school believes in discipline, hard work and academic excellence to live up to its motto which is Truth, Perseverance and Excellence

In the field of sports, the school has chalked a lot of success
in Athletics and the Ball games. Currently, the school is the
3rd Best School in handball in the Region. The school has
also participated well in music and cultural competitions in
the region and placed well among the schools in the region. In
the field of academic work, the school continues to excel. The
school recorded 96.7 % success in the 2015 WASSCE examination and since 2012 the average performance in terms of percentage has been always more than 90% pass.
